In the summer of 2001, Tyler Horter took a trip to Asia and found himself sitting in an open-air bar in a remote, tiny village in northwest Thailand. A lone acoustic guitarist sat on a stool a few yards away slapping harmonics, fretting huge chords from over the top of the neck and strumming beautiful open chords with incredible skill, in a way Tyler had never seen. Watching the man play was something of an epiphany.

When he got back home, he picked up his acoustic guitar, tuned it to an open chord, and hit record. The notes rang out long and loud.

Antecedent is a collection of Tyler's creative and enthusiastic exploration of the potential of acoustic instruments. It is also the first recording released by INS Rec Co, which was not produced in house. We are proud to present them to you in digital format. The "deluxe download" edition of Antecedent features four songs recorded live at "ExperimentalBehavior Showcase IV" in 2004, the performance which first captured our ear and turned us on to Tyler's music.
